Ladybug Week May 20, 2013

                                                          Ladybug Week
This week we learned all about ladybugs. In our lesson plan we included colors red and black, and the letter L. We read about ladybugs and learned what ladybugs eat and about their life cycles.

Monday Wallach and Suzianne stamped out ladybug footprints. They came out great! Wallach also had fun painting a ladybug rock.

Tuesday we learned new ladybug songs and Wallach made a ladybug puppet on a stick. This was also the day Wallach found a spider. We caught it, observed it and then released it. Suzianne was not so sure of this.

                                                        Suzianne's not so sure look.
According to Wallach, Spiders rock!

Wednesday Suzianne and Wallach were very fond of each other, so cute to watch them interact. They also had fun potato stamping images of ladybugs outside and playing together. Messy madness, I love it! While Suzianne was sleeping Wallach enjoyed making a letter L ladybug.

Thursday Eco Baby had our first visit from Licensing. We are now officially a licensed family childcare. Yippee! Suzianne loved reading in Ms. Melissa’s lap and snuggling before nap. She also really likes playing and chewing on our new connector toys. But not by the looks of the picture below :o)

Friday we had fun searching for ladybugs, practicing drawing with chalk and watering our plants we planted last week (little sprouts are out). Wallach had fun measuring the ladybugs and blowing on them to make them fly away. Suzianne was very gentle and liked having the ladybugs crawl up her hand then arm.

What a wonderful week. Wallach naps! He is learning to be gentle with Suzianne by rolling toys and keeping our feet on the floor. Suzianne had developed lighting legs, she is the quickest little nugget I know :o)
Next week we introduce frogs, toads, and crickets. Why all together you may ask, because Ms. Melissa is setting up her toad and frog tank. The children will have a chance to watch the toad and frogs have a cricket feast.

Next week we have a new child enrolling. We look forward to our cute little addition, Amia :o)
